Old Sonnox plugins use G4 licences that only support 32‑bit plug‑in formats (VST2, AU, RTAS, TDM).
Our current plug‑ins use G5 licences, which support 64‑bit plug‑ins in VST3, AU, AAX, AAX-DSP formats, along with improved compatibility and ongoing updates.
This guide explains how to check your licence type, when you need to upgrade, and how to purchase the correct upgrade.
Check Which Licences You Have
Go to the mySonnox portal.
Enter your iLok User ID and iLok‑registered email address.
You’ll receive a verification code via email.
Return to mySonnox and enter this code to view all of your registered licences.
Do You Need to Upgrade?
If you already have a Native G5 licence → No upgrade is needed unless you require AAX DSP for Pro Tools HDX.
If you have a G4 licence → You will need to upgrade to G5 to use:
64‑bit plug‑ins
Current macOS or Windows versions
VST3, AU, and AAX plug‑in formats
Upgrade Options
Upgrade to Native G5
For users who only need:
VST3 (64‑bit)
Audio Units (AU) (64‑bit)
AAX Native
Steps:
In mySonnox, select Native from the upgrade selector.
Click Checkout to complete your purchase.
Upgrade to HD‑HDX G5
For users who need:
AAX DSP for Pro Tools HDX
Plus all Native formats above

Important Notes
G5 plug‑ins are not compatible with iLok 1 devices. You will need an iLok 2, iLok 3, or iLok Machine/Cloud authorisation.
You keep your G4 licence after upgrading. This means you can still run your legacy system alongside your updated system if needed.
