For the attention of Windows users only
If your Sonnox plugin simply shows an empty black box when inserted, it is likely to be a graphics card related issue, specifically with OpenGL, which some Sonnox plugins depend on in order to function and display the GUI.
Summary of things to check -
Check that any dedicated GPUs are running the latest firmware
Check that OpenGL drivers are fully up to date alongside latest GPU F/W
Switch OpenGL off in plugin preferences if no change following the above
Updating OpenGL Drivers
Open Device Manager.
Expand Display adapters and then right click the graphics driver to update driver. Here your display card may be AMD, Intel, or NVIDIA or any differently branded GPUs.
Search automatically for the updated driver software.
Troubleshooting / Alternative Fixes
If updating GPU and OpenGL drivers do not resolve the problem, then in some cases, OpenGL can be disabled manually -
Go to Documents > Sonnox > Preferences
Open the .xml file relevant to your Sonnox plugin
Change the line <VALUE name="UseOpenGLRenderer" val="1"/> to <VALUE name="UseOpenGLRenderer" val="0"/>
Save the file
Relaunch your DAW
Please note, this workaround will not work for our Drum Gate or Claro plugins due to their dependency on OpenGL rendering.
