Sonnox AudioUnit Plugins and macOS 14.4 Sonoma

Modified on Tue, 16 Sep at 10:45 AM

Some customers may encounter problems using iLok-protected plugins in the AudioUnit (AU) format when running macOS 14.4 Sonoma.

This issue affects DAWs that rely on Apple’s AU plugin format, including Logic Pro, GarageBand, MainStage, and Final Cut Pro

In DAWs that support multiple plugin formats (such as Ableton Live, Studio One, Reaper, Cubase, Bitwig), the problem only occurs if you load the AU version of the plugin. Other formats (VST, VST3, AAX, CLAP) are not affected.

Symptoms

    •    AU plugins fail validation in e.g. Logic Pro, GarageBand, or MainStage.

    •    Plugins appear unlicensed or refuse to load.

    •    Your DAW may crash when scanning AU plugins.

How do I fix this?

Update macOS

  • Apple and PACE resolved this issue in macOS 14.4.1 and later.

  • Go to System Settings → General → Software Update and install the latest update.

Update iLok Licence Manager

  • Download the latest version from iLok.com
  • Install it and restart your Mac
