How do I uninstall Sonnox plug-ins?

Modified on Wed, 30 Jul at 4:18 PM

If you no longer need a Sonnox plug‑in, you can remove it from your system using the steps below.
This guide covers:

  • Removing Sonnox plug‑ins on Windows and macOS.

  • Optional removal of user presets and support files.

  • Full uninstall steps for Toolbox ListenHub.

Windows

1. Uninstall Using Control Panel

  1. From the Start Menu, go to:
Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features.

  2. Find the Sonnox plug‑in in the list.

  3. Double‑click it (or select → Uninstall) to remove it.

  4. Follow on‑screen prompts to complete the uninstall.

2. Remove User Presets (Optional)

The uninstaller does not remove your own saved presets.
If you want to delete these as well, remove the following folders:

Documents\Sonnox\Presets Program Files\Sonnox\Oxford Plugins\Presets

macOS

Sonnox plug‑ins do not currently include a dedicated uninstaller. You will need to remove them manually.

1. Remove Plug‑in Files

VST3

/Library/Audio/Plug‑Ins/VST3/Sonnox

Audio Units (AU)

/Library/Audio/Plug‑Ins/Components

AAX

/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug‑Ins

2. Remove Sonnox Support Files (Optional)

Presets, user guides, and install logs may be found here:

/Library/Application Support/Sonnox
~/Library/Application Support/Sonnox
~/Music/Sonnox

(The tilde ~ represents your user account’s home folder.)

Toolbox ListenHub Uninstall (macOS)

1. Quit the Application

  • Click the ListenHub icon in the top‑bar menu and quit the app.

2. Remove the Application

  • Delete ListenHub.app from your Applications folder.

3. Remove All Plug‑in Formats

  • Follow the plug‑in removal steps above for VST, AU, and AAX formats.

4. Remove ListenHub System Driver

/Library/Audio/Plug‑Ins/HAL/SonnoxListenHub.driver

5. Remove ListenHub Preferences

/Library/Preferences/Audio/Sonnox

6. Restart or Log Out

  • After uninstalling ListenHub, log out of your macOS user account or restart your Mac for changes to take effect.

Troubleshooting / Alternative Fixes

  • If a plug‑in still appears in your DAW after uninstalling:

    • Confirm that all plug‑in format files have been deleted.

    • Clear your DAW’s plugin cache or perform a rescan (see your DAW‑specific rescan article).

  • If you are unsure which files to remove, contact Sonnox Support.

FAQ / Common Questions

Q: Will uninstalling remove my purchased licence?
A: No. Your licence remains in your iLok account. You can reinstall at any time.

Q: Can I reinstall the plug‑in later?
A: Yes. Download the installer from the Sonnox Installer Page and run it again.

Q: Do I need to restart my computer after uninstalling?
A: Only for Toolbox ListenHub (or if removing drivers). Otherwise, most DAWs will detect the change after a restart of the DAW.
