You can use ListenHub with many Pro Tools HDX systems, but there are important limitations.
Some HDX interfaces, for example, the Avid HD OMNI, cannot be used as a system audio output while Pro Tools is running.
In these cases, you may not be able to directly route system audio (from macOS or other apps) into ListenHub while Pro Tools is active.
Why This Happens:
Certain Pro Tools HDX hardware:
Is dedicated exclusively to Pro Tools while the application is running.
Cannot appear as a shared Core Audio device for macOS system output at the same time.
This prevents ListenHub from receiving both system and DAW audio simultaneously via the HDX interface.
Workarounds
1. Use Pro Tools Audio Bridge & AUX I/O
If you are running Pro Tools 2022.9 or later:
Pro Tools includes Audio Bridge Core Audio devices and AUX I/O routing features.
These allow you to route audio from other applications into Pro Tools and monitor it alongside your DAW session.
Once routed into Pro Tools, you can send that mix into ListenHub for reference monitoring.
2. Contact Support for Alternative Solutions
If you are on an earlier Pro Tools version or using hardware that does not support AUX I/O:
Alternative hardware or aggregate device configurations may help.
Our support team can advise on the best setup for your specific system.
