This guide will help you get your Sonnox plug‑ins up and running on a new computer as quickly as possible so you can continue your work without interruption.
You can install Sonnox plug‑ins on as many computers as you like, but your licences must be activated on the correct system or device to work.
Prerequisites
Your iLok account credentials.
The iLok License Manager installed on your new computer (download here).
The latest Sonnox plug‑ins (download here).
Your iLok USB (if applicable).
Step‑by‑Step Solution
1. Install the Required Software on Your New Computer
Download and install the latest iLok License Manager from iLok.com.
Download and install the latest Sonnox plug‑ins from the Sonnox Installer Page.
2. Move Your Licence to the New Computer
If You Use an iLok USB (Dongle)
Plug your iLok USB (Gen 2 or Gen 3) into your new computer.
Open iLok License Manager and sign in.
Make sure your Sonnox licences are showing as activated on the iLok USB.
Right‑click the iLok USB in the left panel → Synchronise to ensure it’s up‑to‑date.
Tip: Your plug‑ins will be authorised automatically as long as the iLok is connected.
If You Use iLok Cloud
iLok Cloud sessions can only be open on one computer at a time.
On your new computer:
Open iLok License Manager → File → Open Cloud Session.
Sign in with your iLok account credentials.
If a session is still open on your old machine, you’ll be prompted to close it — you can do this remotely.
For more details, see [How to Use iLok Cloud Authorisation].
If You Use Machine Authorisation
Machine‑authorised licences must be deactivated on your old computer before you can activate them on a new one.
On your old computer:
Open iLok License Manager.
Right‑click the activated licence → Deactivate.
On your new computer:
Sign in to iLok License Manager.
Right‑click the licence in the Available tab → Activate → This Computer.
If You No Longer Have Access to Your Old Computer
You’ll need to request a location reset from iLok:
Open iLok License Manager on your new computer.
Locate your old (unavailable) machine in the left panel.
Right‑click → Report as Unusable.
iLok will contact Sonnox to approve the reset so you can re‑activate.
